I took my .303 SMLE (my favourite rifle) to the range yesterday and had a problem trying to put the bolt in, which has always been really easy. Anyway, this time It was really tight and wouldn't close completely. I managed to fire off 5 rounds and then as soon as I got back home I cleaned my rifle right away like I always do. After cleaning the bore, I tried to install the bolt again and had the same problem, very tight and wouldn't close. Then I noticed that the trigger was very loose and floppy and I could move it around from side to side as well as backwards and forwards.
I'm wondering if maybe the sear spring has broken or come loose or something. Could any of you Gunnutz SMLE owners/experts/specialists please offer and advice/suggestions/help as to what the problem might be and how to fix it?
Thank you so much for any help:(

After checking to make sure the bolt head is screwed down. Take the stock off and look at the trigger. Maybe one of the pins that hold the trigger onto the action is missing.

Many thanks for the response, guys. I ended up taking the whole thing apart and couldn't find anything wrong. The sear spring that I was worried about is OK. I played around with the bolt and sure enough that was the problem, so Maynard you were definitely on the right track.
I'm happy that I took it apart because I always wondered about the condition of the barrel under the wood. Thankfully, it is in excellent shape and I now know how to disassemble the rifle as well.
Thanks again guys!
