The mag tube screws in so I dont worry there, and its only button mag. BUT, I wonder bout forewood shifting thus loosening forewood cap over time. So I wonder whats best there? Should I drill for threaded rod to hold wood to receiver, or what would be bast to keep things from jiggling loose. Before I hear it. Folks like wild west and Zhat will not divulge. They dont care if ya get killed. They care about adding to their already mammoth piles of $. So any help appreciated

When converting Model 71s to .50 Alaskan the forends need to be well attached. This is usually done by using a heavy bracket between barrel and mag tube with larger than stock forend screws tapped into it as well as a few other mods. If your 86 has a threaded mag tube, you are part way there. The mag plug is usually custom, being threaded and holding a heavier than stock screw with pin on the end entering a barrel cut. They are often epoxied or bedded in place as well. In these conversions, keeping the forend tight is a major problem long term. It can be done with these mods and regular maintenance though.
