I am shooting slugs out of a smooth bore 20 Ga. and was wondering what your opinion on putting a sight on the back of my gun. I want to hunt deer, but still need more practice and accuracy before I feel responsible enough to get a tag. My gun is drilled and tapped, and I was thinking some kind of ghost ring/peep sight to help dial in the slugs. Any information is good information! :)

If it's drilled & tapped you could get a scope base and rings and mount a low power scope or red dot sight. If your shotgun has a vent rib, you can buy open sights that attach to the rib with allen screws. (I can't remember who makes these but somebody will chime in) You owe it to the deer to be as accurate as you can be so I would definetly mount some kind of sighting system and then practice. Cheers Bac4

I have an 870 with a Bushnell TRS-25 on it and I love the combo.
This will actually be my first year hunting with an optic other then just a bead but I have high hopes.
Smooth bore with modified choke and I'm putting 5 slugs into roughly a 4-5" group at 65 yards. Plenty good enough for where I hunt and really quick target acquisition.

I might even try it for waterfowling. Never seen it done but now that I've shot with an RDS I can't see why I couldn't just use it as a holographic "bead" and wingshoot the same way I currently do.
