I am new to shooting and my first pistol (.22) is in the mail. In anticipation I wanted to get some snap caps to practice dry firing since I know I will want to handle it as soon as it arrives. My question is ... Why would someone at wholesale sports sell me a-zoom dummy rounds when they specifically say NOT for dry firing on the package?

Plastic drywall plugs used to be a solution to dry firing .22....
Is it a Ruger? The mark III can be dry fired, no need for snap caps

Several brands of 22 can be dry fired without damage to the firearm. Check your owner’s manual and if you’re not allowed to dry fire use Tipton Snap Cap for 22 Long Rifle. They are polymer and work nicely, just rotate them and if they break you can push them out easily.

If your manual does not expressly say you can dry fire your rimfire, don't do it.

Fired brass works well for practice

Thanks for the responses. Gun just arrived today actually! No mention of dry firing in the manual. (Sig 1911-22) So I'll have to be patient now until I can get to the range.

the other problem is that the paint on those a-zoom will come off inside your gun. aluminum will also chip and remain inside. it is a royal pain to remove. a-zoom are junk. btw, dont dry fire .22.
