I think the movie would have been much more enjoyable to one who had no firearms knowledge or experience. Then the actors can throw out some bit of BS and the viewer will cheerfully swallow it.
If one wants to stick close to reality, he would not talk about 1 1/2" ten shot targets at 1000 yds. Why exaggerate? 10" is impressive enough and really happens.
At one mile, if one managed to hit a can of beans with a 408 Cheytac (an occurence which would be unlikely at best), it might not even bulge the can; let alone explode it. The reality would be more like this.... The shooter would fire somewhere around 30 shots. Some would hit close, some would hit disappointingly far away. He would soon discover he had to clean the barrel about every third shot because those stupid Lost River bullets fouled the bore so badly. Eventually he would manage to poke a bullet into the can. The sound of impact would be kind of a "poit". The can might tip over.
Most of the shooting done in this film was typical Hollywood imagination stuff. If I could get past that, I might have been able to enjoy the movie; bad acting and all!
I can enjoy a medical drama because I know virtually nothing about medicine. Hard to enjoy a shooting movie because I know a little bit about shooting. Regards, Bill
