Looking forward to getting out for some snowshoe hare hunting in Manitoba this winter and I'm just wondering if anyone has any feedback on the current population, best areas or type of cover to hunt, etc. It's been quite a few years since I did any serious hare hunting and I have no idea where they are at in their population cycle here. I saw another thread from Alberta that sounded like the population was very good. Is that the case here too? In the past I've always found the very thick cover to be best (poplar forest with lots of assorted undergrowth and deadfall). Lots of what I read says they prefer thick conifer forest though. Any thoughts?
