Was out today & got two of them. Unfortuneately number one was too well centred in his hurried escape at close range. Left that bunny buffet for Mr & Mrs Wile E. Number 2 was a clean bang-flop. I forgot the camera this afternoon, but the underfur was grey. The good thing was that there was no signs of any disease of any kind. No fleas from what I could see either. But they are shedding thier winter fur pretty quickly.

Cheers!

You back out at the Rabbi's place?

Hows tricks up that way?

Want to see a picture of the apricot trees blossoming?

Hows the snow?

:D

Two starlings this morning. Should go do something useful.

Gimme a shout.

Cheers

Yes, Rabbi's place Trevor. Made a b-line for the western corner through the mostly knee deep snow. Just on the verge of a heart attack was the messy scene number one. Then back to the green wall for number two, possible number three was the smart one. He kept just ahead of me, and I could not manage a clear shot even once. I plan on another weekend excursion for sure. I just found my previously missing IC barrel for the M37 Ithaca 20 gauge last week. It made it's opening debue at the Rabbi's place with aplomb! I suspect the full choke pipe will sit idle for quite a while now! The snow is melting pretty quick now. Three weeks ago it was hip deep. I think we easily lost a foot of it, or slightly even more to warmer weather lately. It would be nice to see those trees Trevor. :)

Cheers!

Edit: Added info, last year Alberta extended the ptarmigan season in the 500 series of north & north-eastern zones until the middle of January.
It'll be kind of weird pulling out the shotgun for these grouse this coming post X-Mas! ;)

Nice! That makes me think of the first time I went bunny blasting there with ya! Near had a heart attack slogging through the snow. Good times! :)

Dunno that I ever crossed paths with a ptarmigan around there. Always it was Ruffies or Spruce grouse.

Heard a Ruffie drumming yesterday, too. Good to hear!

Not too bad for two hours work. But I swear there is six inches more snow then there was on Thursday.

I saw one (first one I've ever seen if I'm honest) the other day when I was going out to the range to pattern my shotgun. He was still pure white, never saw him until I nearly stepped on him and he took off.

Six more inches eh?

The Saskatoon bushes popped into bloom, here, along with a couple others I didn't recognize.
Can't stand outside and think, for the racket the frogs are making, though.

Rain, slow, and spotty, most of today. Went shooting with my brother and stepfather anyways.

Good looking bunnies!

I plan on going tomorrow morning. Last weekend was kind of odd with both Satruday & Sunday being one bunny days for some strange reason? It's as if I got thier point man each day within 5-10 minutes of this hunting trip, and the rest of the patrol scattered for successful escape & evade for the rest of the morning!! Occassionally after the first encounter, I would see a hare very widely circling around me, at about 40-50 yards away.
Both weekend days were pretty much carbon copies of each other. Wierd indeed.........

They're starting to figure you out Brutus! :D

Time to change it up and get in there with a 10/22!

Have fun!

Too much snow today Trevor and figured I did not really need to have the rental car stuck! (truck is in shop for minor body work)

Raining here.

Cherry blossoms are starting to go, Saskatoon's are about mid way, apples are just popping leaves, and Lambing season has me all boogered up keeping odd hours.

And I really need to drag out a lawn mower and weed whacker to do the yard. Which is about 5 or 6 down the list of things that need to be done first.

Yeah. Gotta admit. It's bit different after being on that side of the Rockies for so long, to go back to having seasons again. More than "Bugs" and "Snow", that is.

I'm getting used to it again! :)

trevj that looks Kamloops-ish. You round these parts.?

Good job Brutus, I didn't get out this year due to not being able to get to my spots for all the damn snow we had.
Got a couple at the end of deer season but that was it.
