I usually shoot a few guns at a time. This means that when I get to thinking "Which is the best?" my recollections are very disjointed.

So today I took most of my 2" revolvers to the range and shot them all.

After I check my notes and examine all the targets, I will be able to nominate a few as "winners". They will be the ones that shoot POA and feel good in my hand.

I have not yet check the notes and targets, but I do recall that one of the Charter Arms was impressive. More so, since it was a cheap gun.

I have 2 of those 44 3" CAs. One got appropriated by She Who Must be Obeyed. I find both of them accurate and very light for a steel framed gun. Too light for comfortable shooting of full power ammo.

What's the name of this disease ? Acute Snubbynite ?

The snubby syndrome, i do have have this disease too, there's no cure for it.

12.6 snubs don't fetch much of a price these days. Most of us already have 2 of everything.

So "collecting" snubbies in Canada is a cheap pastime.

I also have 2" snubs in 357 and 32.

Then there are the 3" versions.

Keeps me amused. Something to do at the range.

Four of these shot perfectly. 2 Smith m37s, a Charter Arms and a Cobra.

Six others shot very good groups, but too high or too low. I am now adjusting the front sights for POA. Testing those will be the next shoot.

There's a very memorable scene from The Way of The Gun that most people couldn't recreate.

Here's the song used in that scene. From their 'Acres Of Heartache', it's 'Comin' On Thru', by Johnny Dilks & His Visitacion Valley Boys.

I returned to the range with the snubbies that did not hit POA in the first shoot.

Four of them shot very, very high on the first shoot. (12" hi at 25 yards). I put a dab of JB Weld on top of each sight blade, filed it to shape and painted the front sight ramp with flourescent paint, as per all the other sights. The change is now almost undetectable, but the gun will now shoot lower.

For these guns a fired a 3 shot group (hit too low), then filed the JB down a bit and re tested until it hit POA.

For the other guns, that were close to POA, I shot them with a 148 wadcutter and a 158 SWC, to see which was best. The 158 hit about 6" higher than the 148, so I was able to note which bullet was best for each gun.

When I got home, each gun got a little label to remind me of the ammo preference.

Each snubby now looks like this:

It's a good thing I'm more into Buntlines than snubbies or I'd be more jealous of the old 12-6 crowd.
