It was great to finally visit Army Issue Surplus’ new store! Actually, I had never been to their old store either, but I have visited their booths at the Toronto Sportsmen’s Show and TACCOM.

I guess out of instinct I went straight for the knife counter, which has a decent selection

But the real purpose of my visit was to hunt for some surplus treasures. For example, I love binoculars…

Oh what’s that creeping out beneath the binos, gas masks, another obsession of mine! Army Issue Surplus has lots of them in all shapes and sizes

Including these vintage ones, shown next to a surplus bullhorn.

Ok now these are cool! I thought they were vintage typewriters, but no, they are for making dogtags!!!

Oh, what’s that in the corner under the boots?

And of course pants! Did you know Army Issue Surplus sells pants? Lol I was soooo happy to finally find something in night vision camo that fits! And besides you cant visit Army Issue Surplus without buying pants!

I found a matching hat but alas it was too small

It was great to chat with Jeroon. I wish you continued success and hope you keep expanding the store! I’ll be sure to be back and hope to see you at future shows.

Excellent review RL, and it is good to see that Jeroon has moved into a bigger space as I am a local customer that likes to browse. Jeroon is a great conversationalist, by the way, especially if you are a veteran, as he likes to chat.

Glad to see AIS back on CGN, and best of success to Jeroon and AIS.

If the dogtag typewriter still works there might be a market in custom tags that don't say what the Army would have said.

we just went for St. Louis Wings and Scoops ice cream afterwards...nothing exotic

yes, one of the two dog-tag makers is functioning

It is interesting to see how surplus stores manage their inventory and offer unique items for enthusiasts and collectors.

yup, despite my reputation for Gucci kit, i love surplus stores! It is hard for me to find military clothing that fits but i do like to find surplus gear/equipment. AIS is a great store

Dog Tags Customized

Yes we custom print tags,
4 lines 15 characters per line
on 2 tags
and we have put a lot of different info on them.

We have printed Tags for Junior hockey team a set for each player and left space for the end oif the season to add
Semi Finals
M.V.P. and so on.
We have stamped a D.N.R. Tag for a gent at the Toronto Sportsmen show one year.
I stamped sets with name and address for Dementia Alzheimer Patients.
Medic Alert tags for kids who won't wear medic alert bracelets
Commemorations for family members
and the fun limericks for GI Joe Halloween costumes.
