So I got an Knight original disc muzzle loader about a month ago. I took it too the range a couple of weeks ago and it shot around 3-4" at 100 yards with 300 gr Hornady SST Sabots with 90 gr of 777 FFFG. So I thought that this was unexpectable and as nothing had been previously done on the rifle as in No bedding or free floating I thought I would tackle this job. So I purchased so JB weld epoxy resin and did an absolute $h!t job on it hahaha (my first time hahaha). But when I was all said and done the action felt rock solid it was hard to remove even when I would disassemble it and I was able to free float the barrel.
So fast forward to today, I took it too the range and tested it out. first 3 shots were stringing up but with in 1.25" the the next 2 were left and right 2" from the group. I was really happy with this result. So I disassemble the rifle and clean it and reassemble it and adjust the scope and shoot a 5" group... WTH I'm think and it only gets worse from there I can now barely even hit the paper at 100 yards... I get home and disassemble the rifle completely and remove the stock it isn't tight like it was anymore and the bedding job looks like it has separated from the fiberglass in a lot of areas. I literally remove the bedding with my hands with out much difficulty. So now I'm going to redo the bedding job and do it right Ive done a lot more reading on it and hopefully it will work a lot better.
My question is could my p!$$ poor bedding job really do what happened here. I'm thinking my scope (vortex crossfire 2 1x4x20) might be pooched but could it really be just the bad bedding job? Also any tips for doing a better job will be greatly appreciated.

Many of those stocks are plastic not fiberglass and epoxy doesn't stick real well to them but if super clean them to get the oils out it will usually stick good enough. I stiffened a Tc omega stock using devcon ansd aluminum and its held up well. Loose bedding material woul likely raise havoc with groups if its sliding around.
