I just picked up a 28 inch 88 at the local sporting goods store they were on sale for 249 with a hard gun case.

I was just wondering what you guys have been doing to make the action a little slicker. Which parts do I need to polish. I won't be able to shoot it enough to loosen it up. It will be my firearm that I leave at my secondary residence 2 hours away.

Thanks

Dave

I ran a case of target shells through mine. Smoothed it up reasonably well. Aside from that I'd check the slide rails or other metal-on-metal surfaces to see if they could use a bit of polishing. It's kind of a beater shotgun so I've not really concerned myself with it being too smooth cycling.

Pit a little dab of Flitz brand polish on the slide rails and cycle the action a hundred times or so. Wipe off the Flitz and see if there is any improvement. If not repeat same for another hundred cycles. Don't overdo as the Maverick has an aluminum receiver.

Any pump shotgun should work its self out: Especially when the step-dad loads up two boxes of 3" magnums with #9 shot, and a skeet shooting competition out in the back 40 starts...

Just back. I put 100 2 3/4 field and range fedearal thru there. 25 rounds of heavy field Federal and 10 3 inch mag BB rounds. This gun points excellent and is now slicker than snot on a doorknob. I can safely say its the best 250 bucks I ever spent.
