So I just picked this one up. BRNO Mod 1

World of difference than a 10-22..........huh?

Ya - my 10-22 feels a little clunky next to this one.

Beauty shape, snauble for end, hooded front sight, adjustable buckhorn rears. I bet it's a shooter.
I really hope so - I can't wait to get it out and try it.

1952 very nice , does look refinished though, or just blurry pictures ?
Just the pics - I believe it's all original. there are a few smallish scratches and a few bumps and dings on the wood. But I'm pretty happy with the condition.

Is it rude to ask how you found it and how much you paid? I have a original 1951.
I found it online from Bashaw Sports (bashawsports.com) for $375. Given the condition I'm happy with the price.

The model 5 's are nice as well with the "express" sights...picked one up years ago...Harold
Agreed - we have a model 5 in the family as well - bought by Grampa back in the sixites (we think) and it is still going strong. I wonder how many thousands of gophers it must have dispatched?

For $375, I'd of jumped on that with both feet! Nice score!

Absolutely!!!

I had a '55 Mod 4 which I bought new in box in 1994. Just amazing accuracy and the build quality is better than anything you can get now, short of perhaps a Cooper. They are that good. Mine would shoot 10 round 1 hole groups so tight it was hard to measure, right around .3 at 25 yards using peep sights. I sold that gun, with accessories 10 years ago for $700.

Great find at a great price for a great rifle. I have one that was a DCRA target rifle, has a modified trigger( not worked on, actually modified with parts welded on and adjustment screws) and aperture sights. My friend and i shot it just yesterday at 25 yards and we're able to keep all shots in 1" with CCI SV ammo. Makes me want to see what better ammo would do in this rifle.

Coincidence! I just picked one up at Reliable in Vancouver a couple weeks ago. While the stock has seen better days, the metal is nearly perfect, with only a marred action screw head and a tiny rust mark on the receiver where it contacts the wood below the safety. These are (to my mind) the most ergonomically-perfect .22 I've ever handled. I like CZs and Brownings, but love the balance of this thing.
I think I'll keep it all original, as a classic open-sights .22.
Anyone know where to get a replacement action screw? I'd like to keep it original, so slotted head rather than a more modern Torx or Hex drive from J&P or DIP. WGP doesn't have them.
I'll be looking for advice on stripping and refinishing the stock. It has checkering on the grip and I'd like to retain it if possible. The wood has only minor scratches and dents.
My price? $350.
The proof mark on mine shows a "51" so it's almost as old as I am.
I like the trigger. I've got it set up military-style with release at around 3 lb. Completely usable.

We did well, did we not?

I totally agree with you the ergonomics of these. The balance is perfect on them. I will see what I can do with the trigger on mine. I did take it apart and found that it does have the 'adjustment screw' but I didn't change anything yet.

Given my eyesight I will probably be looking to put a scope on this one but I would like to find something that is period correct for it.

and yes - we did well.

Nice rifles guys, I've only recently been keen on getting one myself, but mostly because I'm not sure the stock geometry is well-suited to a scope. Since my eyes aren't what they once were, I feel I almost need one. I may consider scoping it (if I get) to do some load testing...see what she's capable of. :)

Anyhow, I'm close to BRNO ownership..and will post pics when the blessed day arrives. lol Lord knows, the one I borrowed to shoot gophers with (open sights) sure claimed allot of them...many offhand too. The rifle balances beautifully.
