Sorry about the crummy video quality, but hopefully its helps somebody out with info on refurb vs non refurb and Izzy vs Tula differences.

i had a question though, i have an sks with the Tula triangle but it also has a tab on the take-down lever for the gas system. does that just mean mine was thrown together with spare sks parts?

You mean Izhevsk triangle? Tula is an arrow inside a star, Izzy is an arrow in a triangle in a circle.

I'm not sure about the gas takedown lever, its on my Izzy and the others I've seen, but I haven't seen it on any Tulas I've handled that I can remember. I'm no expert, just wanted to point that there can be different small parts from rifle to rifle. I've seen early Tulas with a different receiver takedown lever than my 4 have as well.

sorry i meant Tula star. just wondering since i never really took a good look at my sks until now. thanks for the info though

in your video you said you wish somebody from tula visit the izzy arsenal and see what they did with their gas tube latch but tula did have that latch from 1949 to part of 1954.

hey , you're half way to completing a set .

h. Gas tube latch.
-Early gas tube latch. 1949-part 1954 single indent with tab (below pic, top).
-Late gas tube latch. part 1954-1956 double indent with no tab (below pic, bottom).

Thanks for the info. So I guess my Izzy is an early 54, and my Tula is a late 54. The earlier lever works better, wonder why they switched?

Hope the video helps people too. I think I'll re-do it someday when I can get the rifles outside in better light.
