Traded my REM 700 BDL SS\SYN .280 for a SAVAGE MODEL 12 VARMINT .223 in a Boyds laminate thumb hole stock. Put a fixed 12X Burris fine crosshair scope on it. My first experience with a SAVAGE other than an AXIS. What should I expect from this rifle. Is it going to lead to more Savages in my rack.

You can expect it to shoot... SUB MOA... from there it depends on your loading and technique... good choice in the Model 12.

Odds are it will be a shooter. I have no doubt that more Savages will find their way to my safe some day. If only the wife would believe that they just follow me home from the gun shop....

If shoes do it, so can guns...

If you want a savage, buy a savage, whatever. I could never can a Remington just to own a salvage, it just ain't gonna happen.

I'd take a Savage over an SPS any day. The BDL I might have kept, especially in 280.

@hoyt- I wish my wife was a shopper for that exact reason! Not sure yet if the fact that she hates the mall is a blessing or a curse, it gives her a lot of leverage when mysterious long cardboard boxes show up in the mail. ;)

Rookie!!! Call your P.O and ask them to hold all parcel cards and delivery... tell them that you will pick-up directly due to "sensitive contents." Give them your cell number for notification of arrival... then you just sneak the new one into the safe... they all look the same once they are in the rack...

You're welcome...

Make some life sized ones out of wood and paint them to look exact.
Buy what you want, pull the dummy out and replace with the goods.
I will just tell my wife that it's a fence for the band saw, if I get caught.
So far so good.

Back on your meds again are you?

I actually understood what you were saying (mostly).

Smooth guy !! Trouble is, that wouldn't work around my place....

Better yet... make the dummies out of chocolate... then when you put the new gun in, break up the dummy and offer it to your wife for disposal... you'll be a hero instead of in the dog house...
