So I want to start IPSC/IDPA....

Well Fallenrock the best advice i can give you is take a road trip to Edmonton, go to the Phoenix Range and Talk to Len Kucey the owner there and tell him you want to shoot IPSC and you want to try out some gear. i would suggest at least 8 hours with Len and bring your gold credit card :}

No. (I'll get that changed on the website). As long as you can legally own a handgun, you're OK.
