So if I wanted to buy a Tavor, I would need to decide between Gen 1, Gen 1.5 and Gen 2. I'm aware of what the main differences are between the generations but I'm leaning on the CGN experts for their suggestions.

I would be looking on the EE to pick one up. The older ones seem to be a tad cheaper compared to the GEN 2s and often come with a Mepro for the same price. Which way should I go?

As well, since I'm not very familiar with the Tavor (having held one and having read the Tavor FAQ thread) I'm curious how hard it is to add a full length rail to the GEN 1 or GEN 1.5.

If anyone in the Fredericton area has one that I could try that would be hugely appreciated. Tavors are pretty unique and I'm not sure how much I would like one.

When are these coming in and how do you identify them?

Are these the Tavors that are stamped Tavor21 vs Tavor TAR-21?

Would a new trigger pack fit in the older gens?

2.5s are already here, the differences between a 2.0 and 2.5 are very small. Triggers packs are interchangeable, the US bolt carrier group thing is a un verified thing from what I have seen following it. The 2.5 is probably still a 7 or 8lb trigger weight.

The mepro's are unique in the way that they do not require batteries, but they are far from ideal for anything other than CQB in my opinion. An eotech is much more precise and flexible.

In my opinion I would want a gen 2+ to ensure I have a flat top full length rail for mounting optics. Having options is nice, and to my knowledge the parts to convert gen 1.0 and 1.5 are largly unavailable now days. You missed out hardcore by like a month. A month ago the swiss crisis caused a 2 week span where like 10 tavors were dumped onto the market at the same time. I seen one that was a gen 2.5 for $2400 that had only been fired 50x.

Gem 1.5 and newer would be my choice. I actually prefer the looks of the Gen 1.5 (or converted 1.0) over the full length rail. Plus the rail isn't bridging a large open space which fundamentally looks wrong to me and potential source for accuracy issues.

With the gen 1.5 the M21 sight was available with the upgraded bullseye reticle (Copy of Eotech) and quick release. The picitiny rail along with the upgraded M21 was a $300 upgrade. Pretty much anyone buying the 1.5 at that time went with the upgrade. I'm very glad I did.

I actually like the M21 on the Tavor. It just looks right and works well with it. I even put one on my RFB. They work well with bullpup rifles that have the side charging handles which the Eotech often gets in the way off.

That being said price and availability wise it's the 2.0-2.5 all the way.

Personally, I'd want a 1-4 or an AGOG so the flat top isn't essential if I buy an AR-style mount but it would be nice to have the option. An improved trigger would also be very nice. Having played with the Tavor in the past it's the terrible trigger that really sticks out in my mind.

i would contact international shooting supplies in BC. They have great deals on the Tavor and they price match as well!

there web-site is still under construction so i would call them!
