So I'm getting an SKS...

My question is why would you wait till May. if I was you I'd try to get a blued one and just put some oil on it. they look much nicer than the painted ones. and as for not cleaning it I would . I have seen ones with chromed bores with pitting . I was in a gun shop and this guy was looking at one and he looked at me and said what do you think of this rifle. I looked it over and you could tell this thing had been well used - right out of the Congo and the barrel looked like the moon . craters . if I remember right it was a 1953 Tula. it was a real shame because some of the blueing was still on it and the same with some of the proof stamps.

buy one you can look at and be proud of . and clean it . I have never bought anything off them but from what I have seen lately a nice blued one from westrifle would be nice. but you buy what you want brother .

Just buy any SKS on EE... 99% shoot well and go bang every time. As a shooter, I insist on laminate stock and handguard, chrome-lined bore ('52 and up), and all-matching (mismatched mag is ok). I also insist that the barreled-action sits snug in the stock and the gas tube is fairly snug as well.
