So its the coyote rut right now what calls should I use?

Female invitation or interrogation would be the "go to" calls among the vocals. Throw in some female chirps too if you are comfortable with that. (Look it up). I'd only use challenges if the others don't work, in order to avoid scaring off younger, or less than confident males.

Of course the distress calls will still work, but in full "rut"(not sure if thats the correct term on dogs lol) they are spending their time chasing females.
Humans are the same way when thinking with their second brain...lol
 
I guess Im going to find out how the yotes are acting tomorrow. I hope they are hungry because my turd of little caller only has distress and a howl on it. Cant wait to get my home made e caller up and running.

Yup you got that right. Even in soft snow, when you are educating them with a 22-250...they tend to not take the easy route anymore lmao
 
female dogs/coyotes go in heat....not rut. just say'in.

BTW: Not many coyotes in my part of MB. this winter. Some hunters are saying 1/3 have mange.
 
Try this lmao: Go to you tube and punch in "prairie swat coyote hunting" (bloody awesome video and I`ve seen a ton of them) and at 5:29 listen to the calls. I almost bust a gut. Let me know what you think of that vid! I had to watch it a couple times in two days, just couldn`t get enough.
