I'm looking at buying a nice, accurate AR15 and the two that I have my eye on are the Les Baer Custom IPSC model and the AT15 from Alberta Tactical. Both will probably end up well north of $3000, with the AT15 probably the more expensive model. Anyone have any first-hand experience with either or both of these models?
The factors I like about the Les Baer include the option to delete the forward assist, the free-float handguard, and the integrated muzzle brake. It also comes with the Versapod as part of the package, while it is an extra on the AT15. Alberta Tactical no longer offers an upper without the forward assist. And their choice of handguards leaves much to be desired. I don't know what it is about the fetish with rails, but I don't need nor want them on my handguard. On the other hand, they do offer cerakoting which means a choice of colours. And of course, they are a Canadian company, so it would be nice to support them. I think Wanstalls sells Les Baer guns, so I think they should be able to order one.
So any opinions?
PS. I already own an old (mid-90s) Olympic Arms Ultramatch, which is pretty accurate but not the best made gun. So that is the reason I'm thinking of these models.
Edit: Pic of the Les Baer.
