Purchased what would probably be called a slightly Budda'd SMLE 3* at a gun show today. Stock was cutted down, and it's been drilled and taped too it seems.

First of all, can anyone explain how to mount a scope on this thing? Like what kind of mount and a link or a picture to it. Also, when your putting scope rings on it, it seems to me the back ring would be higher then any front ring you could put on it. So wtf?

Secondly, would dry firing be bad for it?

Pictures will follow later today or tomorrow.

Don't know about the rest of your questions but dry firing isn't too bad unless you do it a lot. It's not ideal but if you want to then go ahead, these rifles are robust enough to take it. If you want to close the bolt and release the tension without dry firing you open the bolt, pull the trigger (and hold it), then close the bolt. It should close without cocking.

Cool. I would thought that a military rifle wouldn't mind being dry fired a couple times. I shot it a couple times today(damn rain), didn't shoot at any targets but it seems to be tearing up the ground where I'm aiming lol I'm one very happy gun nut atm

You will become bored of dry firing LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG before you damage you rifle dry firing my friend.

Bolt and receiver SN matched. Magazine doesn't.
Too bad someone drilled it :(

But once again, since it's already drilled and tap, what do I need to buy to mount a scope?
- Sorry, n/m. A bit more searching and i've find it I think. "TO-1 Base fits Lee Enfield 1, 4 or 5."
