So new not all paperwork is in yet R.H. ONTARIO

The names Teddy from Richmond Hill, Ontario Canada

Just finished all my restricted and unrestricted firearm license tests today @ York Region Firearms Academy, great place by the way. Still waiting for the paperwork to go through CFO and come back to me before I send in full application license. But I am so freaking happy I am finally getting it. Supposed to be my 16 year old coming of age birthday present from but I'm freaking 22 now but I got it and I'm happy. Good thing my parents kept through with their promise. =)

Experience with Lee Infields bolt action .22 when I was in Air Cadets. Handgun-wise .22 rimshot, 9mm and either .38/.40 I didn't know what it was when I visited my uncle in the US. Interested in firing handguns and rifle for target practice. Not really interested in hunting but I am for competitive shooting. I have no idea how that works though.

One of my "classmates" told me about this site so I decided to drop in and take a look. Kind of in the planning stages right now, measuring up the basement to find a place to get gun safe, where I'm drill it into the ground. What gun safes on market and where to get them. Then gun clubs where/how to join, where to get handguns and rifles. Open to all suggestion as I am learning the ropes right now.

For a little note on why I took up the sport. My dad told me I lack focus, concentration and I cannot seem to control my hands, I'm not sick but some odd reason my hand shakes just a little. He's hoping this will "cure" my problems. =D My dad is inspired me a lot when I was a kid. Used to shoot pennies and dimes dead centre with an air pump rifle, standing @ 10-15 ft probably isn't much to you but I couldn't do it.

Welcome Teddy, I live in Richmond Hill as well. Look up Target Sports at Stouffville and Woodbine and drop in when you get your RPAL. They will let you demo handguns etc until you find something you like. Drop me a PM if you ever want to join me and my buds there for some range time. Enjoy!

Thanks rhshooter that's cool, might actually drive around and check out all the clubs in the area. Their facilities and whatnot. So far the instructors advised Sharon or Aurora. I have an ex-colleague who goes to Aurora. But, hey, Target is a lot closer and they sell handguns. Price-wise how are they compared to Epps? I just looked up their entire inventory. I don't got deep pockets (professional part-timer at the moment) so I'm thinking closet passage set changed to a lock and key set. .22 caliber so I can shoot 100 of them and not clean out my life savings and store them in the heavy metal filing cabinet with lock until I save enough for gun safe. Then everything goes inside. Depression depresses the heck outta me, finished college and can't find a full time job yet.

hey,

im also in the RH area. i found Target Sports to be the best bang for the buck. aurora was still pricey and not nearly as nice, plus Target has decent prices on guns/ammo, all under one roof!:D

I agree with Marco. I like to buy where I'm going to do most of my shooting as long as the price is reasonable and in line with other stores. Aurora is ok but unless they have done a reno in the last year it is pretty shabby in there. In their favour they allow members key access so 24/7 is available (I think). Sharon is very nice and has multiple ranges for rifles, pistols and shotgun sports (all outdoors). The problem there is you need to buy a share of the club itself in addition to membership fees and they are in limited supply so you need to buy off an existing member. i believe they limit rifle and shotgun shooting on certain days of the week for noise reasons but it's been a while since I was there so see for yourself.

Check them all out and see what works for you.

yeah, i went through all their websites. sharon @ $1000 a share you need to get from existing member to become a full member is above and beyond my financial capabilities. I'm thinking aurora or target, but what I do not understand is in addition to paying membership to the club it says I have to join C.S.S.A. what the heck is that?
