So, no more deer hunting for nonresidents in Quebec

I strongly suspect Anticosti Island deer hunting for USA and Euro citizens will continue without a pause.

So really, for us real Canadians (paying federal transfer payments to them and rewarded with their unilingual provincial hunting reg's)!! who effing gives a tinker's d@mn?? :(

i cant go hunting big game in Alberta without an outfitter nor in BC nor in other Juridictions what is the problem?

btw there is still deer hunting in Quebec for non - residents if they go throughout an outfitter like in other places ...

for deer hunting there is other places that worth more than in Quebec ...

i ve seen a lot of Quebec going in Manitoba and Sask for hunting deer just saying ...

This doesn't seem any different from any other province, you need a guide if you're a non-res. Or buy a cemetary plot, and "own land". I've been told this is one way around such residency rules.

As an Ex-Quebec resident I'll say this, for once the MNR is starting to care about it's own citizens. Deer hunting there is hard and the numbers got pretty low recently. Nothing wrong with favouring your population first like most provinces do.

The real problem with the MNR in Quebec is that they favour non-Canadian residents and those who have $$$, especially when it comes to hunting caribou, as a Quebec resident, in 10 years I never drew a caribou tag for the only zone allowed for residents, all other zones are through outfitters (unless you're a resident of that zone). Unless you're willing to spew 6000$ on a caribou hunt, you got to wait your turn... Anyways, in my opinion that's a start but like most provinces, the MNR there is a f&cking joke.

But now that I live in Saskatchewan all has changed, people here are complaining that the deer population is at "an all time low" and I'm just laughing thinking to myself that their "all time low" is still far better than my "all time high" in Quebec. I love how they do it here, unless you're going through an outfitter, you need a blood relative to participate in the WT deer draw. At the end of the day, as a SK resident I should have an advantage over non-residents, after all, I am the one paying taxes in this province (did I forget to mention that I'm also glad I'm done getting raped by the Qc govt???).

I have recreational property in Quebec and pay taxes. I pay school taxes as well. I work in Quebec and pay provincial tax to Quebec but it is still OK to not to be able to hunt deer on my own property according to some of you guys. Maybe you know something I don't.

Do you know anything more about these ways around? I own property already.

Sask deer is at the worst I've seen since the 70s. Just because it sucks worse somewhere else doesn't change that. Everything is relative, but going from seven or eight deer tags (or no limit in certain zones) to just one wasn't very pleasant.

Yes..... You pay property taxes for your QC property..... No, you do not pay provincial taxes to Quebec.... Since you are an Ontario resident, your tax dollars are transferred to Ontario and the difference in tax dollars is refunded to you when you submit your return......

It does suck though..... Owning a property you can't hunt now..... I had a place in the laurentians for a long time, and while the hunting sucked there, at least it was an option.....

And you would be completely right, all I said is that your lowest here is still better than the best elsewhere. I really hope the population grows back up, I'd love to see a "healthy" population here in SK, that would be quite impressive coming from Quebec.

On your second statement, seriously, who needs to shoot 7-8 deer a year? I personally think that it's completely ridiculous unless you're trying to bring down the population to maintain a healthy herd.

You are joking right? 20 years has been and I always end up paying even more at the end of the year. Never mind seeing a single return.

Yes it sucks, main reason I acquired that property is to be able to fish and hunt on it and around it.

Bringing down the population was the point. Don't knock it til you've tried it. We'll likely never see the likes of that again, it'll take many years of mild winters in a row.

The second link you posted with the license fees, does the first line show a non resident deer permit costs $297.49? Except for Anticosti Island? My French is pretty rusty. It looks like the doe tags are reserved for residents only.

that is correct.

here is the link for non resident hunters in Quebec

the antlerless deer (not only doe) are de facto only for residents.
