I just finished tripping through the Westrifle website where I ordered up a case of 7.62x54R ammo and a 1939 Mosin to go with it. This will be my THIRD Mosin now.

It started last spring when I bought a 1943 Izhevsk. That got me hooked. But it's a rather rough and ready example with very coarse tooling marks.

Then a shooting buddy sold me his safe queen Czech M44 born in the same year as me... :D

I was going to buy the crate of ammo anyway but I wanted a more nicely done example of the rifle. So now I've got a pretty nice looking 1939 Tula coming along with some feed.

Pictures in a week when it gets here. That's if the wait doesn't drive me NUTZ! ! ! ! :D
 
Wait until you shoot the carbine ;) just hold the rifles properly otherwise they'll kick you around untill you figure it out :D
 
No problem. I've got a couple of other heavy kickers so I know how to get a good shoulder weld on the butt plate to minimize the pain.

But even so the M44 is only good for about 7 or 8 rounds before my arm goes a bit shakey. I've got to either get a slip on recoil pad or a thick wool Russian great coat.... :D

So far my sum total shooting the two I've got was three paper packs of ammo that I bought with the 91/38 originally. Most went through the first one but I had about 10 or 11 rounds left to send down the M44 before I ran out.

Found fish, from the sounds of it the stuff may be here even sooner than expected. But I gotta say, that's only partly Westrifle. Canada Post or UPS, depending on the method of delivery, plays a big part as well.
 
I bought an m38 fron a gun nut last year the carbines are super fun. The fireball in daylight with PRVI is comic book like. Enjoy I have five of them and they are awesome. Think about a slip on recoil pad though the shape of the buttplate seems designed to cause pain.
 
Good move stocking up on ammo, and with the price of mosins, how can you say no? I've got a bunch of them too. Mosins are like Lee Enfeilds from 30 years ago. We will be kicking ourselves if we didn't buy a bunch of them. Ammo is a good price too. Damned Westrifle taking all out money like that?


I'm usually good for 50 or 100 rounds every time I go out, and don't find that it kicks that bad. even with my M44 shooting 203 gr LVE is not that bad.
 
Well, the poor chap DOES have to sleep too!

He confirmed the order and I have notices from the shippers showing that he got the goods into the system. So I'm expecting both early next week.
 
We have butt pads coming for all type of mosin. That helps a little bit.

It's all true. Westrifle DOES perform miracles. This all arrived in two shipments within an hour of each other just a short time ago. About long enough to open them, charge up the dead batteries in my camera and host them on Photobucket.

One of the cans is already peeled open. The opener works well. Although it's clumsy enough that I wouldn't want to be doing it with German bullets flying past my head.... :D

The stock is smooth as a baby's bottom other than one scuff that's lightly cut into the wood on the other side. It looks like it the stocks were either replaced or the rifle was never issued to where it saw combat. It's far too smooth and clean.

The new gun is so happy to be at its new home that it even had a nervous accident in the box.... :D

Best of all is that the machining is nice and clean with nicely cut metal surfaces overall. Not the "rabid beaver toothmarks" found on my Izhevsk '43.

This Tula is one milsurp piece of history that I'll be very happy to own and shoot for a long time.
