Well fellas with our big game tag numbers tanking here in Ontario, I've turned my attention from rifles to shotguns. I'm considering buying a Benelli SS for clays at the gun club. What's your input on this shotgun? I currently have 2 of the new model A5's and there great guns, but was at Cabelas the other day and tried this Benelli Super Sport. It pointed and felt great, but I'm wondering if the inertia system beats u up after awhile or if there are any other complaints about the gun. Any input is appreciated.....

Thanks Scott...

The inertia system of your A5 is a pretty much the same as the super sport . know of several people that shoot the ss for sporting clays with out issue . Have shot the 20ga version it is very nice gun .

Used to own the wood version Sport II and it was fantastic. Shot light loads, cleaned easily and balanced/swung wonderfully. I sold it because I wasn't shooting clays enough but I would recommend the SS. Just be aware that you're paying an awful lot for an injection moulded stock painted to look like carbon fibre. For less money you can get real AA walnut on the Sport II. Having owned a half dozen Benellis I will say that the comfortech stock is BS. I find all my wood stock Benellis are much more comfortable to shoot. Wood just seems to absorb vibration/shock better than synthetic.

Thanks for the replies fellas, I'm seriously considering one. I always look for input for our great CGN community with knowledge of the question asked. I've never been disappointed. Patrick thanks for your input on wood vs syn, seeing that this would be a club/nice weather hunting gun I do like the wood version better. I'll leave the syn stocks for my dirty field work. Thanks again to all.

I bought mine a year ago. Love it. It points well and I use it for american and international skeet. It cycles real fast, so that it is as fast as an over/under.

It is really tuned for 5 stand and sporting clays, but I like it for skeet since it is light.

You have to keep it clean. I clean after 400 to 500 rounds. If you leave it go 1000 then you will get some jams or FTF.

I have more problems with lower power rounds for reliable cycling. Use 2 3/4 to 3 dram rounds to be good. Really low power rounds (like the "quiet" winchester AA) will not cycle.

Other than that, it's fun to shoot and light.

FTF's after a thousand rounds on an inertia gun. I thought it would go longer than that. But in my world a one thousand round day would/could never happen. (maybe doves in South America) Yes they are expensive I just looked it up on the world wide web.

Firstly, they are not Carbon Fiber stocks, they are the standard "ComforTech" synthetic stock with a "Carbon Fiber Finish", and described as such in the Benelli owners manual. Buy the SS and don't look back, they are more versatile than they look, shop around, you might get lucky.
