Someone is going to post this soon anyway so I may as well get it started...

What if any firearms/component purchases are on the agenda for you 2010?

Myself I have been selling and buying so many rifles this year that the only thing that comes to mind that I still want is and I have been posting on the EE for a long time now that I am looking for 12" or longer s/s T/C Contender barrels.

A 12" barrel will give me an overall length of 26 3/4" and it is legal to hunt with a barrel 12" or longer here in BC.

I was just on the T/C Custom shop web site this morning and see that they have listed a s/s 15" handgun barrel in 45 Colt I have been looking for one of these for a long time so I just need to figure out how to get it here without it costing me to much I want this for my son's first hunting rifle...

For handguns I have my eye on a s/s Ruger New Bearcat in 22LR the barrels are now 4.20" so they can be imported into Canada again, I would get this gun for my young son to learn how to shoot handguns with.

I also have 3 Leupold scopes that I am going to send into Korth Group to get warranty checked and possibly the reticles of 2 of them changed.

That is it I'm sure something of interest will come up during the year though... :D

I have two rifles and two handguns on my agenda.
  • A 45-70 Pedersoli Sharps I presently have on 'loan' from a buddy.
  • A 358 Norma Magnum in a Schultz & Larsen.
  • A 44 Mag Colt Anaconda that I have tentatively lined up.
  • A 45 ACP in a S&W 4506, same purchase status as the Anaconda.

Gun Wise,

2 or 3 new AR's, going to do builds to spread out the pain. Hopefully one in 308 (DPMS) for my Dad, one AR pistol as well for myself. I also told my nephews today that if they hurry up and get their gun licenses, I will build them each an AR carbine (223) and get them a membership at my Range. When they looked at my AR's today (Nice way to spend Christmas) they started to drool, that's when I made the offer.

A couple short barreled 45 Colt or 357 SAA revolvers. Either Beretta, Uberti or Ruger. Thinking of biting the bullet and getting a matched pair of either SASS revolvers or a pair of Ruger New Bisley Vaqueros.

A specific shotgun for SASS Wild Bunch (most fun I have ever had shooting without an AR).

Accessories,

some more 7 round 45 ACP mags for the 1911 so I don't have to reload any for the entire match.

As many LAR15 mags and Questar couplers I can get my hands on.
Also, I am expecting there will/should be a HUGE discount coming on the Dlask couples to get rid of remaining stock, and if they come down to like $10.00 or $15.00 each, I'll grab up a bunch of those.
Mags for my AR-10, as many as I can get.
Mags for my S&W M&P in 40.
Going to make a conscious effort to start really stocking up on ammo too.

Ruger #1 in .303 British;)

Bartell will probably push a Kimber in .260 onto me...:ar15:

All my needs are pretty much covered already, so I don't need much, but I am sure something will strike my fancy in 2010.:D

I am trying to decide between a Dakota Model 10 in 300 H&H, a NULA in 7mm Rem Mag, a Cooper Excaliber in 338-06, or a Blaser R93 Black Standard in 300 Weatherby or 338 WM. I also want to get a Leupold 4.5-14x40 AO on my .284 and a 3.5x10x40 on the new addition. I am fairly definative on getting a RA XCR in .223, and it is a cool "black gun" but I really want to use it for a coyote gun. I plan on topping it with a small tactical variable. Hard to decide yet.
Of course some one is going to have to fund this for me.
I also intend on having a Ruger No.1 in .303 as long as the invalids don't ruin a good idea by making it a B or S model.

Hunting Wise: I want to get my first shotgun some time this year
Collecting Wise: Probably one of those non-r "VZ-58" guns sooner or later. Hmm but i will be going off to university in september, which may postpone my purchases :( ...

Probably a few accessories for my new Remington 870 Tactical, and maybe some stuff for my 10/22. For guns, I'm hoping to get a CZ 858-2, whichever bolt action rifle strikes my fancy, maybe a Norinco M213, and a pistol calibre carbine of some sort (here's hoping that we're able to get the Thureon carbine in non restricted goodness:D).

I'll be selling off my CVA Eclipse and upgrading to a CVA Wolf muzzle loader. I just traded off my Norc NP 28 and will likely get a true 1911 platform of some sort to work on. Also for some reason the walther p22 seems to be looking like something I need.

humm, lets see...an other SKS but for my wife so i could use mine, hopefully a type 97 before the end of the year (no, i dont want to start a debate) a cz 52 if i could find one with a decent price, and anything that could catch my eye :)

Usually I let a gun find me, when I stumble on something interesting & of sufficient quality.

But right now I am quite intrigued by the "little Sharps" by Charles Daly. I've asked about it here but no infor forthcomming about Canadian availability.

From the US sights it would appear that the sweetheart of the lineup is a 38-55 with a 26" barrel at 6.5lbs.

I plan on doing a long range target build. Probably on a Savage action, and likely chambered for the 6.5 Mystic or something similar. I will top it with a Vortex target scope, and likely plant it in a laminate stock.

I am also thinking of getting my restricted licence, and then maybe pick up a few handguns. Start out simple with a 22, then maybe a 1911 of some type.

I also would like to get a good 12 gauge semi, or an O/U. Not sure which yet, I guess I will decide when it finds me.

Thats all I have on the want list for now, but I am sure it will get dashed when the first whiz bang super shooter comes along!:dancingbanana:

Standing in line with a whole bunch of other guys for a Ruger #1 303 Br. :)
This year its time to sell, not buy as retirement happens in 2011 and I simply won't be able to feed the "herd" so probably 20 or 30 rifles will find new homes..... :(

That 303 tops the list if I like the final configuration.

I also have a couple projects to finish.

1. 700 BDL long action, ss Gaillard bbl 270Win in an Edge. Waiting for the Edge.
2. 700 BDL short action, ss King bbl in 358Win. Either a TI take off or CDL for a stock. Have all the parts for this one, but waiting to see how the 303 deal goes before commiting funds.

.

I've got an Edge ordered for my old pet Pre64 M70 fwt 270. Life is too short to leave it at home, trapped in the safe, while I hunt with other rifles I don't like as much. Year after year, I hunt with something stainless and synthetic while the old girl sits at home, me afraid to carry it in case it rains during the day. And God forbid I have to set it down in the snow! So it gets a few scratches and the guy who buys it from my widow doesn't get quite the same collector grade Pre64 fwt 270...who cares! :D

I think that's it for 2010 unless the right old M70 finds me.
