so whats been confirmed or rumoured coming down the pipe for canadians later this year or next for black rifles? i feel the need to expand my collection yet again, but nothing available now really appeals to me. so what should i be saving for? beretta arx? cz sten 805? anyone?

I think some of the hype is over blown. Sure black rifle related things are going to be harder to find for a while, and prices may go up (substantially in some cases due to smaller manufacturers failing), but the laws aren't changing in Canada. We still got 5/30 mags during the AWB period, they just had "For Export and Law Enforcement Only" lasered on the side. No biggie there.

Armalite has never explicitly said the AR-180b was done forever. With a potential ban the 180b might be revived to circumvent new US prohib lists. We might yet see the 180b come back! With a metal lower possibly!

As much as I'd love to see new AR-180B rifles hit the market again, it will have to be someone else other than Armalite who will make them if we want to see them in the near future. According to Armalite, they say they are not economically feasable for them at the moment, so the gun has been put on the backburner yet again.

I think the AWB is over blown hype. However there is little incentive for companies to invest in R&D on a "new" black rifle when everyone and their dog makes an AR15. We want a non-R rifle because our laws are so screwed.

The truth is with the HK coming into the AR market they helped push AR evolution/revolution to it's limits with the performance of that line of rifles, combined with companies like KAC,LARUE,NOVESKE,LMT,COLT CANADA,DD, and new oils that make DI a little more fun, it is all over for development, I don't really see the need anymore for a while......The only areas I see room for improvement is NV,Lazers.Light,Thermal....the real "Game Changers" in my opinion... Despite some minor improvements here and there I think it is over especially with the war winding down...

For us civilians in Canada we may be running out of time, we have to wait to see how much longer the BS down South goes on for and how long this crap takes to fall into distant memory.....I think we missed our opportunity for real change, but hey we got some access to some great things, if anything we to start fighting harder.....
