So whats the deal on these Scorpio Shotguns?

Turkey is a world leader in shotgun manufacturing, but there are many off brands entering NA lately. Trip Star Cobra, Scorpio ect.

I would look at Hatsan over those though. I have two and really enjoy them. Biggest complaint is parts avalability, but we'll see if that changes in future. The finish and function of the latest Hatsans is fantastic.

Early Hatsan shotguns were rough and had issues here and there. But the past few years models have been great. Some can't get past that first run though so label them as a whole as junk now.
I would garner a guess that these early Scorpio models might suffer the same quality issues.

Im not sure if Rems and Moss' need parts frequently or what, but the parts availability concern is usually brought up by those brand advocates so again, not sure.

Weatherby I'd another fine Turkish shotgun brand. Although a little higher price point.

I've been wondering the same thing. They are great looking scatterguns and I'm interested in getting one but can't find any info/reviews on them. I guess I might just have to risk it and get one and see how it is and report back? Hmmm...

Just picked up (unplanned) a tactical Scorpio (Akkar) semi 12 ga. with rail, 20"bbl, pistol grip, 4 choke tubes, sling, and adj ghost ring sights. Was impressed with looks, handling, action, and metal mag follower. I will give it the gears soon with 2.75 and 3 inch including a pattern test for turkey and get back to report. For $489 if it doesn't jam or break, who cares?

Ran some rounds through this today in the rain. I was surprised...with heavy 2 3/4 field loads, 2 3/4 slugs and 3 inch magnum turkey loads, not a jam and the recoil is better than my Mossy 500. The interchangeable chokes in the short barrel rock. Since it is new, I had a few issues feeding light target loads consistently, but I expect with proper break in, it will function fine. Patterned it for turkey with the full choke using Win XX 3 inch 2oz. buffered no. 4s and 30 yards is max range. Any further, you may want to get an extended turkey choke. For the money, it is a fun gun. Easy to take apart and the trigger assembly drops out with ease after removing 2 pins. I am sure this is the same gun as the Weatherby SA08.

Extended Turkey Choke for Charles Daly fit like a glove. The pattern below is at 33 full paces with 3 inch no. 4 shot Win XX 2 oz. load. The target is 6 inches in diameter.

Looks like my Scorpio, just the Akkar factory version TK 222:
