"...stupid moves like this..." Like destroying thousands of perfectly good C1A1's(a lot of which were BNIB) and selling most of the remaining parts to a foreign owned company.(Gunparts) Destroying thousands of Lee-Enfields then buying more for the Rangers. All instead of selling them to law abiding Canadian voters? Not to mention destroying the CF's entire stock of defensive land mines to look good to the Third World Debating Club.
Closing Canadian Arsenals(and selling the machines, etc to India. Including the only precision deep hole drilling machine in the country), then finding out that buying more from FN would run over a grand each in late 70's dollars. Then funding an entirely new plant, 20 years later, then giving that to a foreign owned company. Submarines that catch fire and cause the death of a highly trained Naval officer, when you use 'em.
The list and examples of Liberal fiscal irresponsibility and blatant fear of the military goes on and on. Nothing new either. MacKenzie-King did the same thing during W.W. II. The corruption of the Ross Rifle fiasco is another.
