I own a very nice 20g O/U, rounded grip, and with very nice wood made by 'Miroku' and stamped on the barrels is the name 'Charles Daly'
Is this an 'English' gun Co. or a 'North American' Co.?

Charles Daly is the name of a gun importing firm. The company has guns made by various companies and bring them in under the name Charles Daly.

Miroku is made in Japan. It is the same company that makes Brownings. A Daly Miroku is the same mechanically as a Citori although it probably has Invector choke tubes instead of Invector Plus.

This gun does not have any choke tubes, they are fixed chokes, as most of the 'Older Guns' had I think, perhaps not  OR perhaps they did
Is my 'Charles Daly' worth more $$$ than a regular 'Miroku'/Browning ???

No. Every Miroku Daly that I've seen wasn't nearly as nicely finished as a comparable Browning. Even the Miroku-marked guns seemed a bit nicer.

Now that has me confused
I have another 20g by Miroku ( Haggis Jnrs. gun ) and the 'Daly' which is also marked 'Miroku' is actully even nicer !
If Miroku make their guns in a particular factory, why would one gun be of a lower standard just because they stamp another name along side their own ?

I would admit to possibly carrying a prejudice because of the first Mirokus that I recall seeing 20 years ago. They were indentical to the Browning Citoris of the time. My impression of the Daly guns comes from a bunch at the Grand a few years ago that Jaquas was selling cheap. They were pretty rough and not well finished compared to my first encounter with Miroku guns.

Any difference would come in the final fitting and polishing of the guns and when the gun was made. If the guns were ordered to a price point I would expect that Miroku might do a separate run for Daly and scrimp here and there to keep costs low.

I see a few current production Miroku guns in these parts and they are slightly nicer than the ones I saw at Vandalia a few years ago. It is also possible that Daly has put a little more pressure on Miroku to bring up the quality of the guns.

You aren't familiar with the Monday/Wedensday/Friday quality progression in most factories? Obviously yours was built on a Wednesday. - dan

You know that I have always respected your opion, (you inspected my "Wm. Powell) but I have to say, on this occasion, my "Daly" is quite exceptional.

I have do doubt that it is. Each individual gun should be judged on its merits not the name stamped on the barrel. My prejudice regarding Daly could be unfair based on the examples I've seen.

It could also be we are discussing samples from different eras. Sad to say there are very few shotgun makers that are putting out guns as nice as they did 20 years ago.:(

This definately appears to be an older gun, it has the long tang, rounded grip, the screws are nicely engraved, the wood is beautiful and the checkering is quite fine.
Did they make any models of perhaps a "Higher" grade ?
