So why are people inflating prices on a CZ 858

It will go on till all the people willing to spend that much are satisfied. Then the price will come down over time as there are only sensible people left buying. Anybody remember $1000 being doled out for a deactivated AK-74.

You buy it for 1000 and then immediately attempt to flip it for 1600? Why? Why the need to falsely inflate the price? There aren't any less of them in the country.

There aren't any more coming in either. Simple economics really. Demand has nothing to do with supply. Demand is driven by people's willingness to buy a product, which is determined by a combination of price and want/need.

Obviously the retail price was set below the equilibrium price (where supply meets demand) so now the used market has adjusted the price to be more in line with the price dictated by the demand curve.

Oh and people suck.

Yeah greed, supply and demand blah blah blah. I do find it gratuitous for a nutter to get two from Wolverine then say he wants to sell his wife's as "she doesn't like it" and at 150% of what he paid. The optics are terrible.

Supply and demand aside, I posted an add a while ago, asking for a VZ 58 and/or CZ 858, the newer the better and I got several offers for unfired or sub 100 round count 858s for between 900 and 1100. But anyone who bothers to post theirs up for sale goes 1500, 1600, 1700, and 1800 for an unmolested "unfired" beaver barf 2P.

How do you know they paid $1000 for it in the first place?

If it's new and unused then it came from Wolverine and that's what they sold for unless you want to assume some dummy had one siting in the safe for 3 years.
