So Winchester is building a Model 70 Featherweight again.

until their lineup begins to fill out with different models like they were offering before, I doubt you'd see anything too exotic

Anyone notice that the Winchester web site is basically the same as the Browning web site. Makes you wonder how different the rifles will be. I hate what has happened to Winchester and Browning; huge nasty greedy companies always ruin a good thing.

Obviously you have never held an A-bolt and a Model 70 if you are asking that question, they aren't even close to being similar....

Interesting to note ... in the 4 variations of the newly "re-introduced"
Model 70, only one "Remington" chambering is offered, the 7mm-08, and that in just one model, the "Featherweight" . ( Featherweight 325WSM ... Hmmm)

In the various Remington 700 models however, a total of 8 "Winchester" chamberings are currently offered.

And Remington is producing 270 WSM and 300 WSM rifles and ammo... but they don't produce their own SAUM in rifles anymore. Their version died out, while the 270 WSM and 300 WSM are doing well.

Winchester will produce more chamberings as time goes on and they get geared up. Whether that will include more Remington calibers who knows. You won't see them putting out the RUM's, thats for sure.....

Look at their SS model 70 coming out, go download the 2008 rifle catalog. Has a really nice stock/bedding block setup from the factory. Nicer than what Remington is putting out...

Oh right, I've heard of them. Their owned by Tupperwear and Plano tackleboxes, right? :p

Obviously you never shot a Tikka or a Sako. I used to flack Tikka's and then I shot one..... Yep Remington SPS's and Savages are all metal. Just as much plastic on them. I have owned them all and I would pick the Tikka between the three easily.

Tikka has the smoothest feeding of all that I have owned, which in numerous Remingtons, Savages, Winchesters, Mausers, Vanguards....

When people think of Tikka they always think of the T3 light synthetic. They seem to forget about the T3 Hunter, T3 Deluxe, T3 Laminate, and T3 hunter stainless.....

No I remember all those. Complete with plastic magazines, bolt shrouds, triggergaurds, etc. Show me those components on a model 70 or 700.

You mean the plastic dust cover on the bolt, whereas Remington and Winchester leaves theirs wide open to collect dirt.... Yeah I have a SPS sitting in my locker... And the plastic trigger guards on the Winchester Shadow, and Super Shadow models, I have one of those in my locker....

Have you cycled a SPS with the flat matte finish on the inside of the action. Kind of reminds me of sandpaper.......

Before you totally flack a rifle, you should probably own one. I have never owned an Browning or Ruger, so I don't make judgements on them.

I own one of each.....I was referring to future production not past. Obviously they are going to share parts, metals, wood, synthetics ect for the obvious economies of scale benefits.

Actually they don't. The M70 and the new X-Bolt are totally different just like before. Browning and Winchester have been owned by the same company for quite a while.
