Well, after 2 range trips with my CASM mount and no luck getting on paper (problem with my optics, or maybe just inexperience lol!) I decided to keep it simple and go back to iron sights.
Its the DA socom 18 w/ gas lock front sight. The front post is about the same height as the wings +/-.
I have seen USGI sights (for 22") that appeared to have the posts ground down much lower, so I'm wondering if I already have a higher than standard front sight, proper for the 18.5" barrel.
I have been told that my front post should be higher for the shorter barrel, and to contact Springfield Armoury for a "Bush Rifle" front sight. I'm waiting for their response.
So, those of you with the socom 18/ GLFS, is the factory front sight good for a 100m zero?
Are these GLFS bases/ sights already the proper height to compensate for the shorter barrel?
Would this "bush rifle" sight only be needed for the regular shorty with a flash hider type front sight base?
Thanks in advance!
(BTW the CASM is for sale!!! EE ad up now or PM me.)
