I always liked the socom II but I hated the restricted status, so I built my own. It has the quad railed fore end and the top is milled out in the center so you can use the iron sights. I would like to put an optic on the forward rail but I am looking for a mount that is also milled in the center so I can still use my iron sights. I would also prefer a magnified optic but I dont know what has that much eye relief.

Any ideas guys?

check out fabsports.com .. he may or may not have the mount your looking for.

As far as optics, aside from an aimpoint or acog (spelling?), pistol scopes might have the eye relief your looking for. Fab has some decent aimpoint clones as well.

Just my 0.02!

I have spent big dollars on this build so I clone would ruin it in my opinon. I already have aimpoints and eotechs but I was leaning toward a shortdot with a larue LT104-30. But I was hoping there was a mount that was also hollow down the center so I could still use the irons. Also I wasnt sure if the short dot had enough eye relief

What you want is an IER(Intermediate Eye Relief) scope, also referred to as a scout scope.
A pistol scope has too much eye relief, it is intended to be used at arm's length.
The selection for IER scopes is limited. For example, Leopuld offers only one such model, the 58810/58820/62230. It has a magnification of 2.5. Ask your local dealer if he stocks that model. A look through it and then through a regular scope would help you see quickly if an IER scope is right for you or not, even if you did not want to buy that model.
