I just bought a Beretta SV10 Prevail (a treat for Daddy, indeed :D!!) and am looking for suggestions on a quality soft case to transport it around the sporting clays course. I see some nice canvas ones on the Cabelas website, but thought I would ask the CGN crowd to see what you guys are using?

Hi. You only need a case to get your shotgun to the range. Isn't needed or required on the range.
Although it is not "required" many sporting clays shooters use a soft case when going around the course to protect their shotguns and for ease of carry.

The soft cases with a full length zipper are not convenient on the course. What is more common is a "sleeve" with an opening on one end.

There are two that I have used, one from Boyt and the other from Wild Hare International.

The Boyt (top picture) has more padding, a better strap system and a handle. The downside is that it's not waterproof. Use one in the rain and it takes a while to dry. The plastic snap on the Boyt flap is a weak point.

The Wild Hare strap system isn't as good, the case doesn't have a carrying handle and has a metal snap mouth making the gun a little more difficult to get out. But it is waterproof so if it's going to rain it's the one I take.

Thanks Claybuster, that's the kind of thing I am thinking of. I picked up the idea when I was in the US, as many guys on the course case their guns and sling them over their shoulder between stations. Make carrying easier and if I'm totin' a $3k shotgun around I'll feel better if it is protected from dings and bumps.

I like my (camo) Final Approach case. It has a pouch type opening with two buckles along with a shoulder carrying strap. A bonus is it floats with a shotgun inside. Not too important for a sporting clays course (unless you shoot some really strange presentations) but great for using while waterfowl hunting.
