I got some 265 grain .454 HBRN soft cast lead bullets for my Webley MKI (shaved cylinder). I had read about folks using these in 45 auto rim cases. Is this possible?

It seems like I would have to have a really long OAL in order to seat and crimp properly (the bullets are long and tapered). Otherwise, what bullets are people using in 45 auto rim for shaved Webleys? Any info would be appreciated!

The 45 auto rim has a thicker rim so not a problem. It was made for 45 acp revolvers so moon clips where not needed. Soft cast bullets work well in the Webley. My bullets are crimped in the crimping groove. A firm crimp allows the powder to burn better and affects accuracy more than changing the seating depth.

No problem at all. It's even designed for the longer brass.

About 1889, the original 455 Revolver brass was about .87" long. 45acp is about .89" long. Dominion, Colt, and Eley 455 cartridges were all based on the longer original brass size well into the mid 20th century.

In 1897 the Brits introduced a new shorter version of the 455 Revolver ammunition, calling it the 455 Revolver MKII cartridge. The brass on this is about .77".

Thanks for the info! I like to do things by the book, and my reloading book doesn't have this kind of stuff.

I made some up, and look forward to testing them out!
