With the closing of Jet Bullets, I lost my main source for soft-cast lead bullets to feed my antique Smith & Wesson. All the research I've done and haunting the S&W forum seems to indicate that anything other than soft cast can lead to an overpressure situation in those old pistols. Does anyone know of another Canadian source for these? To forestall the obvious, my living situation makes casting my own out of the question. Would you think loading down would reduce the pressure curve if I am forced to go to alloy bullets? I'd love to contact Jet to see if they have any leftover stock for .44 Russian but the link is disabled.

What mould are you looking at for that old piece? I'm looking at starting a casting setup, and i have several pounds of stick on weights that are almost pure lead I might cut with a bit of tin. Would make for an interesting project.

You will need more than "several pounds"

.44 Russian you get about 25 bullets per pound, assuming you use the actual 246 grain bullet
