So have done up quite a few batches( with moose hamburger) with the Old Elpaso soft taco kit and it comes out great. But 2 night something different. Took out about a 2to 3 pound moose roast and cut it into strips about 1 inch long and 1/4 by 1/4 thick. figured that by cooking it that it would be just like some kind of moose meat taco and tasty...it was better.
Starting with the moose in the frying pan I added a sprinkling of salt and pepper then a sprinkle of Hy's barbecue seasoning. Did this in a electric frying pan and the heat at about 300 or so. Added about 3 teaspoons of margarine just to keep some moisture there and so that it wouldnt stick. After lightly browning it I added 1/2 cup of water...just enough to come up about halfways on the meat. Then added 1/4 of the pack of enclosed seasoning with the kit and stirred it every minute for about 3 minutes then added about another 1/4 of the seasoning and let simmer at 300 or so.
After about 5 minutes of simmer it was looking great...but the liquid was turning to a very light GRAVY..
.about 2 more minutes of simmer time and into a glass bowl it went...nice small moose pieces perfect for a taco done in its own gravy!!
It hasnt even hit a taco shell yet with lettuce and cheese and I have ate probably a good half a pound of it right out of the bowl....The possibilities with this now are endless....try it and I am pretty sure you will like it if you like soft taco's...
