I've got several Husky 1640 type rifles. They mostly have the hard plastic butt plate. A few of them have chips in those butt plates. I'm ready to get something more comfortable on the end of these rifles, the 30-06 that weighs 7 lbs scoped in particular. That thing has a sharp kick! I know there is a thread about using flip-flops and contact cement to make a DIY recoil pad, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of a good commercial option. lledwod on this site posted a pic of a good looking pad on his rifle, and I was hoping to get something along those lines.

Any suggestions?

Leave it as is.

In all honesty the pad only helps with leisurely shooting. In the field you won’t even feel it, plus you have heavy clothes on. I also found that rubber pads hang up on clothing when you go to shoulder quickly and slow you down as you have to shuffle it to the right spot on your shoulder for a proper yield. Keep it as is or use a slip on... just my opinion.

With older rifles it doesn’t add any value when you go to sell it.

Those are the main brand names, yes. I'm aware of the brand names. Does anyone know a model that will work, or better yet, a model number?

I doubt that you will find a pre-fit for those riifles. Going to have to select the closest right size and have the stock cut and pad fitted.

Kick ezz makes a grind to fit. Youll need to measure the stick and order correct size. I dont have the actual model number as ive never replaced any on my rifles
