I have a New Haven 250C semi-auto that is giving me problems. It stove pipes too much. I have tried several brands and types of .22 ammo but the results don't show appreciable difference among those I have tried.
I had the firearm "fixed" a few decades ago and think that was when I the problem arose. One observation is that the "cap" at butt end of the barrel does not fully screw in. I cannot easily get the breach to remain open by pulling back the cocking lever and pushing it into the opening. I think the problem has to do with one of the following or a combination of them:
1. the main spring may have been changed and is too long or too strong for the firearm.
2. the secondary spring may be incorrect;
3. the ejector needs replacing;

I have tried to order the three parts noted above but can't get them from a U.S. supplier because they will not ship to Canada.
I am somewhat reluctant to take it to a gunsmith to have it repaired since the cost to fix the rifle may approach or exceed its value. I have been delaying the purchase of a new .22 because;
1. If I can't fix my 250C, I would likely buy a 10/22 given its excellent reputation and I want a semi auto;
2. If I can fix my 250C, then I would buy a Henry lever action but which one;
a. the regular .22 or
b. the .22 magnum?

I would sincerely appreciate comments on the above. Please don't suggest that I buy all three new versions - the war dept would kill me!

I would try a wtb add in the rimfire parts exchange to get the parts for your 250 if your happy with it. I have a henry carbine and I like it a lot but I don't try for dime size groups I'm more of a 4" steel plate at 100 yards off hand with open sights plus I like to shoot shorts.

Call western gun parts.
As for a new semi look for a marlin 60 or 795. Best semi out there for reasonable amour of money super accurate as well.
Tried them but they said they deal primarily with dealers and do not know when they would be getting the parts for which I am looking. Have tried to get parts through a local dealer in London but they are running up against the delay as well.
Thanks for the info on the Marlin. I will look at them as well.

if the follower angle on your mag is off it will cause stove pipe's. that is very common, and something a lot of folks overlook
