I shipped a nice little rifle the other day. The new owner cleaned the bolt inside, it was dirty. He was able to c o c k it and dry fire once, now it won't stay c o c k e d. Any tricks to try, what to look for? Thanks in advance.

Is the new owner able to still operate the bolt without binding ? Is it a military trigger and bolt or a sporter configuration ? My first thought would be the cocking piece not having enough trigger sear surface to hold it back while the bolt is being closed.

^ or there is grunge or mis-alignment upon reassembly that prevents the trigger sear from rising high enough to engage the bolt cocking piece - I think those rifles were "####-on-close" - so they depend on the sear / cocking piece interface to hold the bolt "cocked" when the bolt is closed.
