Here is some advice, I learned the hard way. Before you make any substantial purchases, may be call their warranty center in the USA and ask if they are able to repair or replace said item, stating you are calling from Canada. Presently I have an issue with a Frankford Arsenal Intellidropper powder scale. It is having issues with the display screen. The # 9 doesn't want to work. Also the screen comes and goes. Can't replace or fix under warranty as they don't have the proper ITAR permit. Waiting for them to "come up with a work around." Their words. I don't understand how their products are being retailed in Canada, right now, if they don't have the permit. Is the ITAR issue just a convenient excuse to duck warranty ?

Went thru the same hassle with a Minox scope. I was a 3-9 BDC from their bottom end line. Optically is was quite impressive. Then the ocular assembly came loose. Sent to the USA and replaced under warranty. I got an upgrade, as they didn't have the same scope in BDC. Second scope crashes and burns the same as the first. Send the scope to the USA, but to a new warranty center in Texas. Find out they don't have the ITAR permit. Can not send my scope to me. My scope is sent to Germany. Won't repair my scope. Send me a new one. The second scope was a 2-10x50 BDC with a medium heavy reticle. Very nice scope to look thru. Same problem with the ocular assembly. Sent a 3rd scope. Cross hairs so fine, they are barely visible. Germany totally ignored me. Had to call Texas and get them to shame Germany into answering. Finally Minox refunds my money. This took 3 years to resolve.

Had a problem with a MEC Marksman press. The plate that accepts the reloading die was drilled off true. Contacted MEC and they had me send them a cell phone picture of the problem. They fully accepted there was a problem and sent me a RMA covering shipping both ways. As the press is quite heavy, this was a substantial saving. Everything was resolved fully.

Now to wrap up. One the eve of the great spending glut, do yourself a favor and call the warranty center and ask if they will cover an issue from Canada. Some might be using the ITAR excuse as a way to duck warranty coverage.
Thanks for reading.

Regarding Minox, this week I was given the following address of the Canadian distributor:
Go Big Tactical
PO Box 10121
Prince George, BC
V2K5Y1
they will forward my binoculars to Germany for inspection and repair. No hassles so far.

Sorry to here about your run around with Minox. I thought I got screwed around by Nikon but I did eventually get a cheque from them. I lost the shipping and taxes, but at least recovered the actual purchase price of the scope. Took around 3 months or more so I quess I was "lucky".

The best warranty situation I ever had was with a set of aftermarket crash bars for my BMW 1200C. The first set arrived and on one side had a bolt hole in an incorrect place. I took pictures and the supplier said they would send another set n/c and I could keep the first set as well. The second set arrived and it was the same as the first... the supplier said they would send another set from a different warehouse and I did not have to send any back... I relieved one more set with the incorrect hole and a set with the hole in the correct position... so I had 3 extra bars at no charge. I spent $30 and had a welder friend weld the holes up neatly. I then drilled the hole correctly and sold the three repaired sets for $600.

I like Minox and have never had a problem with them. Quality glass...

people pay good money for the items they buy .you would think they would look after a customer in the end without all the b's.
