gday CGN, I found a memory stick in my ute so I went through it as ya do, an found its a hunting partners snaps from a couple of weekends up in my hood,
these are the Sambar Hind, beautiful dark animal with a dark(black) snout band , huge ears, brown hide which is amazingly camouflauge and a Orange Rump / under tail, with another Black band on the tail tip.
Check out my mates Pics! we've nicknamed him Guru as he hunted sambar before we knew what they were...
cheers
WL
from afar
Mid Stomp which is an Alert or Defence trick
Again Mid stomp, Alert behaviour.
Reasonably Alert but not overally Concerned. about to raise tail / possible calf or yearling around.
Now Two mature Sambar Hinds, very Alert of the hunters presence, this is a very common sight to any hunter, even the most seasoned. The deer behave very "paranoidly" on a good day.
even in such country, it is not uncommon to come across 6-10 of these exact Deer in one mornings hunt walking/Stalkng through the thick bush.
one of my favourites
Cheers!
