My son and I were a little busy over the holidays. I had three weeks home before heading back out to Alberta. We had a blast!

Kudos to both of you, well done. I never managed to call in a red but I had a bobcat coming in once, can't shoot them here unfortunately.

Nice!!! My dad taught me to trap as a kid, those were good days! Unfortunately, he just couldn't bring himself to shoot an animal, so it was my Uncles who led that charge! I bet you can't keep your boy out if the woods... Good on ya for getting him out with ya!

Cheers
Jay

It's certainly not like it used to be when deer numbers were higher. But there was a couple of family groups that seemed to co-exist in my area this season or at least their territories crossed. My wife has noticed tracks near our house just in the last couple of days so I can't wait to get back, but they may be transients as breeding season is getting closer. I hunt mostly private land to take advantage of fields and open areas but I'm planning a couple of hunts on crown during my days off. Please remember that accessing good areas to hunt in my neck of the woods requires literally driving through someone's yard.....seeing a stranger driving through their yard may not go over too well with some.....so please do your homework and ask permission.

I'm usually hunting in the Warwick road area. Not too many fields. I'm guessing you're in the blueberry fields and no they don't take kindly to people driving through them...LOL

I've hunted the power lines on the Warwick Road on many occasions with some success. Only downside I found was I would usually walk a long way in on the snowmobile trails only to have to drag a yote all the way back out. But if I recall, there are some large fields further back the Warwick? No, I don't hunt the blueberry fields cause they can be very windy, at least that's my excuse for not being able to call one out in those fields......and you'd be surprised at how many hayfields are hidden from prying eyes.
