So, my son and I have been deer hunting together for the past couple of years. Previously, it was just me. This year, my daughter decided she wanted to come too. I've got a decent sized collection of milsurps, but lots of different considerations. Daughter loves the little carbines because they are light. However, after shooting a 1895 Stutzen, she's not so keen on the short light rifles lol. I bought a Swiss K31 for my son and he loves it, and shoots well with it, so he was set. I settled on a M38 Swedish Mauser for my daughter. Light recoil and a bit shorter and handier than the 96. To simplify logistics, I grabbed an M96 Mauser. Great time, and although we didn't get a deer, we had so much fun together. Great family time. We ran into a couple of older fellows while out there and one of them looked at my son's rifle and said, and I quote "Son, what the hell kind of rifle are you carrying?" I was expecting a bit of a Fudd type when he added "Looks like a Swiss K31, those are fantastic rifles, good to see one, I really appreciate the quality!!"

Even if you don't hunt, it's sure nice to get your kids out shooting. All three of these rifles were purchased on the EE.

This is what hunting is really about. Good for you guys! Some of my best memories are from hunting with my dad, and I had an old 303. I miss those days.
