hi.here's some pics of medals/patches.most belonged to my kia/mia uncle.
some maybe something else.

Several sweatheart pins, mothers cross, and the clip with the 3 cap badges is refered to a 3 sons tie pin.The wings with the "O" I think is an air observers pin (possibly sweatheart)The Cap badge with the number 199 maybe a WW1 cap badge. CWAC badge is a Canadian Army womens corp service pin. The silver one with the safety pin looks like trench art.The cloth badge is Air Gunner. Most of this I've pieced together from oatmeal packages and matchbooks so I maybe off alittle. Anyone have more to add?

Look up Memorial Cross. Also look up Silver Cross Mothers. Below that is what is known as "Ops Wings" awarded when you had completed the required number of missions to go home. If you finished two sets of ops they would add a bar to the wings.

Some of those I recognise as British. The medal marked "Atlantic Star" and the other service medal w red, white and blue ribbon under it (both to the left) I swear I have around here somewhere (my grandfathers) and are British, definitely not Canadian.

one on top left is a fenian raid medal--1866.it has a name,rank and outfit on the side.

Cool...well that's as Canadian as you get. (Actually Confederation was '67 ). I was referring to the star next to it with the green and blue ribbon and the other on directly beneath it.

What outfit? I'm in Niagara (Ridgeway) isn't far. It was quite the action pushing back the IRA from our Sovereign soil and actually expedited Confederation I do believe.

Canada and the other Commonwealth countries used the same war medals as the Brits in WW2, except for the Canadian Volunteer Service medal which was a unique Canadian medal.

The wing with the "O" signifies a completed Operational Tour (30 missions). My late father was a tail gunner in a Halifax and the has the same cloth badge and wing. He was with 429 (Bison) Sqdn. which still exists in Trenton though as an air transport unit.

The memorial cross, also called the mothers cross will have a name and regimental # on it.
You can check this site to find out more. As well you will see somewhere on that site " Virtual Memorial " . It's a book with all the names of soldiers killed in action of which the name on your medal will be there. http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/cef/001042-100.01-e.php

thanks everyone for the replies.it appears i have my uncle's(mia/kia) medals as well as a grandfather or great grandfather.also,there appears to be women's service pins.maybe my grandmother's service.
