Just got back from my Meat Buck hunting trip....seen a few deer, spooked up these two bucks the 1st day.....a 2x2 and a small 4x4.
Seen alot of Birds....more then I can remember in a long time. Certainly not getting hammered up there. I didn't shoot any...this time.
Day two I hiked up to the same cuts I was seeing deer in the day before....Glassed a very steep cut after spooking up a few does...I noticed a good sized deer step out up on the upper treeline about 200 meters up. I could see antlers so I grabbed the binos...yep a decent 3x3, big bodied...perfect Meat Buck
Dropped down and took aim.....Boom ! The buck just stood there.....WTF ?
I missed completely (thanked god for the clean miss, could have been much worse...).....cranked another shell in this time sat on my ars and took better aim...I also remembered the steep upward angle so I held lower...Boom ! The buck hunched up took a few steps forward and dropped.
He never got up......
Took me about 10 minutes to climb the 200 meters and found him right where he dropped.
The Lil 260 was shooting 130 TSX's and they performed excellent ! 1 shot took the liver, passed through the diagphram and clipped a lung before exiting the far ribs. Left a nice wound channel so I know expansion was good.
Now to await the Rut and chase the Big Ones back Home
