I'll take the 30 Govt. '06 1895 Carbine............. To go with my 30-06 '95 Sporting Rifle. ( I'm fondling it right now.:) )

Oh, and I've always wanted an 1885........... ummmm, 45-70.

Winchester 1886 SRC in .45-70 Govt.

I'd like to see 'em bring back the Win 1886 SRC [saddle ring carbine] in .45-70 Govt. They only made 5,000 of them originally, way back when, [according to the Madis book on Winchesters].

I do have an original one made in 1892 but I'd like to get a modern one to shoot as I don't like to put too many rounds through the old girl.

My Bud has one in 45-90....it's a handfull with that steel crescent buttplate:redface:
How many were made in the 45-90 ?
I suspect not too many ?

Like the 1886, but dammit, make it in 45-70!!!
You can fire a 45-70 or 45-60 in a 45-90, so you would be good to go with your 45-70

Wouldn't want to put a steady diet of the shorter cartridges through the .45-90 chamber, though. Erosion's gonna kick in sooner or later...

I'm not wild about the 06 carbine, but that 405 and the 45-90 are sure interesting beasts. I could see feeding that 1886 a steady diet of blackpowder. I wonder if it's got a barrel twist for light bullets like the originals or they're using a twist more conducive to 45-70 weight bullets?

I always wanted a Win. 1895, in .405 like Teddy Roosevelt had. Dammed if I can come up with a good justification. Don't know what I would use it on. Sure as hell can't afford one, either new or used. BTW, are these properly called Winchesters or Brownings? The New Haven plant is closed.
