Must be due to the new models coming out but their website says:

3.5-15x56 nxs

And

12-42x56 nxs

Are now continued models. I have seen some models of 3.5-15 selling new as low as $1300 on snipershide, dep on reticle. The 3.5-15 F1 and the 3.5-15x50 SFP are not discontinued.

What you say makes more sense than what I heard recently and is reflected in the 2013 price lists I've seen.

I was in a Vancouver shop last week and was told by one of the owners that there will be no more compact, NXS-like scopes (1-4x, 2.5-10x) coming in anymore and Nightforce isn't even taking orders for them. Obviously this is not the case. I have trouble thinking they were just trying to put the hard sell on the 2.5-10 NXS I was holding, that's not the way these guys generally operate from my experience. However, is there a lot of confusion or misinformation about this going around, even amongst authorized dealers? I found it really odd...

Last year NF informed all of their dealers that the compact models were being removed from production due to their upgrades and expansion in the Idaho facility. The upgrades and so on took longer than predicted ( what else is new in construction and supply of machinery?)
They (NF) announced at SHOT 2013 that the compact models were about to go back into production in the early spring of 2013. They also announced that the compact models have undergone some changes and improvements have been made to them.
The 1x4 and 2.5x10 ARE current models and according to NF will be available in the next few months.

Great news on the compact models. Hopefully they bring back the 2.5-10x24
