I am the first-time owner of an AR, an Armalite M15 14.5" flattop. I would like to purchase some optics for close range shooting (under 100m). I am looking in particular at the Aimpoint and the EOTech. I have a reddot on one of my pistol caliber carbines and like it, but the EOTech looks really good too (so do reflex sights.) Where can I purchase some of these hi-end sights?

Also, is anyone familiar with this brand - can I just take it out to the range and shoot it, or what pre-firing work needs to be done? I am used to M-14s, SKS, and other cosmoline-covered firearms, but this looks clean except some oil on the dust cover and exterior of the bolt.

Also, is there a break-in procedure, or can I just fire it?

Fire away. I don't bother with the whole 'clean after the first 20 rounds, then 40, etc. etc.

Just take it and shoot it!!!! As long as there is no packing grease (shouldn't be, really), and the bore is clear, bang away!

Although it's not dripping with goo you should give it a good cleaning before firing it, but other than that the only break in needed is feeding a few hundred rounds through it.

Wolverine, TSE, P&D, Dave's Surplus can all get you sorted out with an aimpoint or eotech.
