Heres some optics I have for my AR, I thought I would post it because its got some variety. The pics are crap so dont complain- my brand new camera doesnt focus to well. Rifle is a LMT CQB MRP 10.5"
Anyways first pic to keep it simple is just Troy BUIS for a basic iron site setup. This is nice and light...it only gets heavier
Next we have a cheapo Clonepoint in a nice Larue mount (worth more than the optic). The Clonepoint has stood up well to some hard abuse so far.
But if you want something alittle different you could go for a Trijicon Reflex, it sits in a ARMs QD mount, has a 15 year rated life span, has no battery and has an amber 6.5MOA dot. Also has a light adjustable polarizing filter on the end of it. Co-witnesses just fine with the BUIS.
A close up of it
After being disgusted with myself for buying a Clonepoint I got a nice T1 to take its place. T1 is NV compatible and has a 3.5MOA and sits in a Larue QD highmount. Unit is very nice- light to.
Close up of T1, dot has 12 settings. 1-4 are for night vision only.
Being as I am slightly blind I needed something for alittle more distance shooting. So whats next is an IOR 1x4 CQB Scope. It sits in a Larue 30mm QD mount. Illuminated horseshoe recticle with BDC to 600. Clarity is really good- but the trade off is weight- this unit although rock solid- is rock heavy.
Heres a close up, illuminated recticle has multiple brightness settings. I have used it outdoors, no fog issues and lumination shows up under bright sunlight.
A close up
Now the above is all fine and well- but it doesnt do s**t when the lights go out, so I figured why not get some Night Vision. Do to ITAR regs we can only get Gen 1 in Canada from the US- however if the tube has an export certficate you can get it in. The following is a Generation 2+ US mil spec tube from the late 80s (its a new tube in a PVS14-D300 Type casing). Because the US exported some of these tubes to Israel -any that are left in the US that have a tube data sheet can be imported into Canada. The clarity is about 35lpm, no fisheye effect and light gathering seems great so far. It has a built in IR illuminator for 30 feet or less.
I got a PRI M69 QD rail mount for it so it sits nicely on the rail. Did have to remove the rear BUIS for it to fit though. Also I got a nice ruskie DA Torch with variable lens settings for additional illumination. DA torch has a nice 1913 rail attachment on it, isnt to heavy either.
Heres a pic of the NV monocular mounted in M69 with the T1 in front of it so I can use the NV setting.
The front vert grip is a BT it steadies all the weight but still adds alot itself as its billet.
Heres a camera pic off the guy I bought the NV from. It looks far far better in real life, but gives you a basic idea.
Heres a final pile of all the junk
